How do I rent through Ship O'Hoi?
Choose a listing, pick your dates and send a request. For most private boats the owner accepts first and you only pay once they have. Listings marked for instant booking are confirmed at checkout.
Do I need a boating licence?
In Norway, anyone born in 1980 or later needs a boating licence (båtførerbevis) to drive a boat over 8 metres or with more than 25 hp. Rules differ from country to country, so ask the owner or charter company what they need from you.
What is included in the price?
The listing shows the rate the owner has set. Ask the owner about fuel, equipment and any deposit before you book so there are no surprises on the day.
Is it safe to pay through the platform?
Yes. Payment goes through Ship O'Hoi's secure checkout rather than directly between strangers, and owners are paid out after each completed trip.
Can I rent a boat with a skipper?
Many owners can come along as skipper. Use the With captain option under More filters to see those boats.
What if the weather turns bad?
Talk to the owner as early as you can. They know the local conditions and can help you decide whether to go out or pick another day.
